Trails & Dust Insurance FAQs

We know this is the top thing on your mind when renting a motorcycle. It’s on our mind too. Here is all you need to know about insurance we provide with our motorcycles.

Are the motorcycles insured?

Yes. We have comprehensive insurance for all our R1250GS motorcycles. This covers the motorcycles for any damage as well as third party vehicle damages in UAE and Oman.

Are the riders and passengers insured under your insurance?

No, our insurance will not cover the riders. You need to make absolutely sure that your insurance provider covers you incase of motorcycle accidents. Tourists (non-UAE residents) also need to make sure they’re covered under their travel insurance for motorcycle accident (high risk activity) while overseas.

What are the limitations for insurance for our rental motorcycles?

All rides should be over 25 years of age at the time of renting the motorcycles. All riders should have a valid license accepted in the UAE. Valid license in this case means either a license issued by the UAE or any GCC country or a license from any of the countries that do not require an international license for the UAE or an international license from a country whose IDP (International Driving Permit) is accepted in the UAE.

A tourist or visitor can ride a Dubai-registered motorcycle if they have an international driving license. This is in respect of visitors who have both a driving license and a passport from certain countries, these countries include: all the GCC nations, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Germany, France, Ireland, Netherlands, Italy, United Kingdom, Turkey, Greece, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Romania, Poland, Finland, Portugal, Canada, United States, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. This list can be updated by the authorities without notice so please confirm with us before booking.

All other nationalities must also obtain an International Driving Permit which is available in a home country or via Emirates Post in the UAE. Note this must be obtained whether specifically requested or not.

What do I have to pay if damage the motorcycle?

If the damage is caused by you but cannot be termed as an accident (police report), then you owe us the actual cost for repair and this amount will be deducted from your security deposit. For e.g., if your kid scratches the paint or your riding pants rip the seat, etc., these things can’t be claimed from the insurance.

What do I have to pay if I meet with an accident resulting in motorcycle damage?

If you meet with an accident and the police report is green, which means you’re not at fault for the damage/accident, you will not be required to pay anything. Not even the insurance excess payment. You will walk away with your full deposit.

For any damage to the motorcycle which is minor and an insurance claim must be made, we will withhold the entire security deposit if the police report mentions you to be at fault.

Your maximum liability in this case is AED 4,000. You also owe us a fine payment of AED 600 + service fee of AED 250 for a fine that has to be paid by the responsible party, which in this case will be Trails & Dust FZCO and we have to pay this fine on your behalf. Please note that the fines vary between the emirates. Your details will be with the police and not paying this is not an option and you are liable and responsible for any legal issues this might create if the fines are not paid.

What do I have to pay if I meet with an accident resulting in motorcycle being a total loss?

If you meet with an accident and the police report is green, which means you’re not at fault, you will not be required to pay anything. Not even the insurance excess payment. You will walk away with your full deposit.

Your liable to pay us incase of a total loss is AED 25,000 plus any fines and third party damage (not covered by our insurance).

Finally… we will try our best to make this a hassle-free experience for you. On your part, you need to make sure you are as responsible as possible with our motorcycles and enjoy the ride Any misuse of the motorcycle will result in costs payable by you. No burnouts, no wheelies, no jumps, no reckless riding.
